Transponder
Use
- All Butar.com
events are timed and scored using the AMB i.t. Activ Timing System. Each athlete will be issued an AMB i.t. Transponder & Ankle Band that will need to be worn throughout the race in order to be timed and scored correctly. You will be RESPONSIBLE for your Transponder/Ankle Band. In order to race, you must read the following document, then agree, as proof of your understanding of the timing process and equipment responsibility.
- At registration, you will be given your assigned bib number and corresponding AMB i.t. Transponder number. You will proceed to
Transponder alley where you will receive the Transponder/Ankle Band
or have it attached to your bike. Both of these items are to be worn throughout the entire race. If you register for the race but decide not to participate, please return the Transponder/Ankle Band to a Race Official.
- The Transponder comes attached to the Ankle
Band or to a bike holder. DO NOT REMOVE THE TRANSPONDER FROM THE
BAND or holder! The Ankle Band MUST be worn around your ankle for the entire race. All Transponders MUST be returned to
Buttar.com once you cross the finish line. Relay Teams will swap the band in transition to insure correct scoring.
- Athletes who do not return their assigned Transponder/Ankle Band will be required to pay a
$150 replacement fee.

| Registration
Payment For your
convenience we offer athletes multiple ways to register and pay for
their race entries.
- Online registration at
Active.com. This is our preferred method due to the
reporting functions, ability to import data to the timing system
and no manual data entry as well as the ability for athletes to
pay by credit card. Active.com charges a minimum of $3.00
per transaction.
- Mail in registration.
Athletes hand write their information by hand and pay by check.
Due to the fact that we must then 'decipher hand writing' and
wait for a check to clear we do not prefer this method.
- Fax. Athletes hand write
their information by hand, pay by credit card and fax the entry.
Due to the fact that we must 'decipher hand writing' and most
fax transmission is very low quality we do not prefer this
method. There is a 3% convenience fee for this method.

| Natural Disasters We have experienced a variety of
natural disasters since Hurricane Charlie on August 14, 2004.
According to the National Weather Service we are in a period of
increased hurricane activity for some time to come. This is
difficult on everyone but especially athletes in the late summer and
fall participating in events in Florida. Our athletes enter
events to have fun with their friends and family - not to get
prepared for an event that can't happen. However, the courses
are set up and all the costs to put on the event, which are
substantial, had already been spent.
If an Act of
God/terrorism/Community Disaster occurs, what actions are taken?
- We will make decisions based
on athlete safety
- Races will be altered as seen
fit and with cooperation of local authorities
- Athletes in that race will
have first right to sign up for that event the next year.
- Buttar.com cannot accept the
risk of a disaster for everyone. We ask each athlete to accept
the risk of his or her entry fee. Starting April 1, 2006 here
will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to other future races in the
event of a natural disaster cancellation.
- Why this policy? The
money you paid in entry fees is spent developing that specific
race at that particular venue. We don't save any money if
the course isn't utilized, nor are we refunded any money.
Supplies have been ordered and paid for as well as most of the
services needed for that race (race supplies or services
associated with that race, regardless of the outcome, permits,
rangers and staffing.)

| T-shirts
We guarantee a t-shirt for athletes who
register by midnight on Sunday before the event. We also order an
additional quantity of t-shirts and these are available on a first come
first serve basis. We will no longer be ordering t-shirts after
the event is over. |
| E-mail
When an athlete registers for a Buttar.com
event, their email will be included in the monthly newsletter. This is
to keep our athletes informed of upcoming events. The only other use
will be for a birthday e-card sent every year. If any athlete for any
reason would like to be removed from the mailing list, they can either
click unsubscribe, or email
support@buttar.com and request removal. |
