Deb Brennan I race because it is very self rewarding and it allows me to eat whatever. This past year was my very 1st year in racing. I had never raced before but always wanted join in the "experience". I have learned thru determinated and sticking to something that makes you feel good is a life lesson. Nothing is unreachable with dedication and determination. Going into this next year I hope to finish a full marathon and an Olyimpic Tri. If I had to tell someone today who is getting started racing it would have to be " stick to it" the finish is not unreachable and to keep that motivation and drive. Train consistantly and keep on schedule. Not every day you race will be good, you will have your ups and downs, but it is all worth it in the end!! I first got "the bug" last year in 2005 having driven over to the race at Camp Winona with my brother,Greg, who has been racing for many years. I decided to volunteer and personally witness my brother and my close friends racing-- I thought "I can" do this. So this last year I started running, made an investment in a bike and keep on regular training schedule. My close friend and coach, Pam, made every race even more rewarding, my times were good and I was able to make those transitions more easier. Best of all, I now have my 14 and 11 year old training!! They think its great. Thanks again for a great 1st year experience! |
